Cracked concrete, weeds through the joints, a surface that has given up. This is where nearly every job starts, and the part most people never see.
Almost every sunken, rutted, weed split drive in Kent failed because someone saved a day on the excavation. Here is the order we work in.
The old surface and the soft ground under it are excavated and removed from site in the skip. Nothing gets raked aside and buried under your new blocks.
Compacted stone brought up in layers rather than one deep dump, because a sub-base that has not been compacted properly is a drive that will settle in its first winter.
Kerbs and edging courses set and haunched before any blocks are laid. Without a restraint holding the perimeter, a block drive creeps outwards and the pattern opens up.
Levels and falls are worked out first so surface water runs away from the house and into drainage, not across it. Channel drains go in where the job needs them.
Sand screeded, blocks laid to pattern, edges cut in on site, then vibrated down and jointed so the whole surface locks together and works as one.
Site cleared and swept, and we walk the finished job with you before we load up. Then it is guaranteed for ten years.
The finished surface is the easy part to photograph. The work that decides whether it is still flat in 2036 happened three days earlier.
All work is fully guaranteed. You pay no deposit, so you are not out of pocket before a spade goes in the ground, and our price holds for seven days while you take your other quotes.
